Project: Live Webcast & Custom Web-based Training

The Need: Coaching.com needed to build a management-training module using concepts from Situational Leadership II. The program was created to introduce an e-Learning experience to Coaching.com clients, and bring the personalities and expertise of the course leaders to life. They needed to test this new delivery method and gather feedback from clients on other proposed e-Learning models.

The Solution: Working with PowerPoint slides from Situational Leadership II, the Interactive Alchemy team created an interactive and engaging live learning experience. As well as course development this project also included a high-touch customer service aspect too, including creating and sending invitations, reminder e-mails, and kits of materials for the upcoming class. The live event utilized breakout sessions, open phone lines for questions, the ability to interact through games, polling slides, and online chat. The visuals were designed with interaction as a main priority, using mouse-overs that uncover pop up slides and graphics that are clicked for more detailed information. Coaching.com's live event lasted 90 minutes with over 75 participants. Interactive Alchemy also created a "Replay" of the live event for participants that might want to review some material at a slower pace and for others who were not able to attend the event. Through the "Replay" event Coaching.com was able to incorporate some of the questions that were asked during the live event as well as some personal additions to make the "Replay" more effective and customized than traditional scripted recordings. All of these items working together helped to add the personal touch that Coaching.com needed in order to meet their goals.

The Results: More than 90 percent of the participants said they felt engaged during the class, with over 65 percent of those responses being "mostly" or "strongly" agree. When asked if they participated in the poll activities over 94 percent agreed and over 86 percent said they were able to participate as they expected. With these and other responses Coaching.com received they were able to determine that the live event was a success and that they should pursue further opportunities to utilize eLearning.

The Savings: Coaching.com's cost per student was approximately $300. This is a significant savings compared with what it would cost them to present this material during a face-to-face seminar setting. It also provided them with a "Replay" that the traditional seminar does not have the ability to create. Within this e-Learning setting Coaching.com is able to reach more people without sacrificing the personal interaction they are known for.
