The Need: 3M launched a new veneer cementation product and needed to get some very quick feedback from dentists about the product. Most dentists operate independently so it can be a very difficult task to reach and communicate with a large group of them. They typically would have deployed an entire marketing strategy to achieve this goal, including a live event that may have cost a total of six-figures in expenses. They also didn't want to invest the money or time to create an entire website to support the initiative.
The Solution: To draw an audience, Interactive Alchemy created a live (synchronous) web-based learning event about sensitivity prevention. The topic was interesting enough to draw over 70 dentists. By pulling on the talents from two subject matter experts on cementation products from different locations, Interactive Alchemy invited and hosted these 70 dentists from across the nation to hear these experts. Interactive Alchemy created a kit of materials that was sent to the dentists prior to the session to reinforce the key information and made sure all of the attendees were able to log into the event. Along with the sensitivity information, Interactive Alchemy wove in information about the new 3M cementation product. Interactive Alchemy developed surveys, polling information and audience opinion mechanisms to deliver the dentists' feedback instantly. The 60-minute course enabled 3M to get the information they needed, and expose the dentists to their new product in a unique way. Interactive Alchemy also created a "Replay" of the live event for additional dentists who were not able to attend the event at the set time. This enabled 3M to extend their reach even further.
The Results: More than 95% of the dentists were satisfied with the program, with over half of them noting they were "extremely" or "very" satisfied. 84% of the dentists, who had never learned on-line before, said they would pursue these types of education courses again. 3M also received all of the market research they needed to launch their new product.
The Savings: 3M was able to achieve their goals at a cost of about $300 per student. A huge savings compared to an in-person event. They were also able to save time. The entire project, from acceptance of the proposal to delivery took less than 45 days to complete.
